On September 18th, Mohamed Aden, Chairman of SAMA Diaspora, met with the Speaker of the Garissa County Assembly for a strategic discussion on regional development. During the meeting, the Speaker provided a comprehensive overview of the legislative process and the vital functions of the County Assembly. He warmly welcomed the chairman and expressed his gratitude for the visit to Garissa.
Highlighting the crucial role of the diaspora in advancing the region, the Speaker encouraged the diaspora community to actively engage in initiatives that foster growth and development in Garissa and its sub-counties.
Honorable Abubakar, MCA for Waberi Ward, also participated in the meeting, reinforcing the importance of collective efforts to drive sustainable development. The discussions emphasized the need for strong partnerships and community involvement to shape a prosperous future for Garissa.
On August 27, 2024, the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Sama Elders' Center marked a significant milestone for the community. The Chairman of the Sama Diaspora led the event, laying the foundation stone and symbolizing the beginning of this vital project. The ceremony was honored by the presence of esteemed Sama leaders and elders, including the revered Suldan of Sama, highlighting the importance of this initiative in preserving and promoting the cultural heritage and unity of the Sama people. Once completed, the new center will serve as a vital hub for community activities, fostering connections among Sama members worldwide.
